Christmas Joy in July at Willows Activity Farm

Christmas has come early at St Albans’ favourite family attraction, Willows Activity Farm, where two baby reindeer have been born.

A light brown female reindeer was born to mum Ivy, whilst reindeer Eve gave birth to a boy who is a dark brown, near black colour.

The calves are both drinking milk and starting to nibble at typical reindeer food, a cereal-based mix. They are starting to explore their enclosures more but still spend a lot of time sleeping.

The team at Willows will be keeping a close eye on the calves’ development as they grow, to ensure they are ready for their big debut in November ahead of Willows’ Santa Spectacular event.

Farmer Andrew said: “Mothers Eve and Ivy only arrived at Willows in March of this year so it’s great that we’ve already got two new additions to the Willows family as well.”

“Our baby reindeer are doing really well and are looking forward to their first Christmas at Willows!”

Willows Activity Farm is now holding a competition on Twitter to find the names for the baby reindeer. Members of the public will be able to enter their suggestions using #WillowsReindeerName and @Willows_Farm. The two winning entries will be able to take their family to visit Willows and see their named reindeer for free.

Families can visit the baby reindeer all summer in the reindeer pen, as well as enjoying all the funfair rides, outdoor activities and indoor play that Willows has to offer.
