Last week I was invited to review the well-known K Spa at the K West Hotel at Shepherd’s Bush in London. I love getting pampered, and after browsing all the available treatments, I decided it was time for the Crystal Clear Deluxe Facial.
Before I let you know about my experience, I would like to point out a few interesting facts about this award -winning spa.
Filled with the finest natural snow, made from air and water, the cabin is chilled to the icy temperature of -15ºC. This entirely unique experience mimics the Finnish tradition of ‘Hot-Cold Therapy’, allowing guests to alternate between freezing and steamy environments.
To experience all of the health benefits, K Spa advises guests to alternate between the freezing environment of the ‘Snow Paradise’ and the steamy surroundings of the sauna.
The sudden and extreme change in temperature stimulates the body’s circulation, improves the respiratory health and immune system, and can work wonders for skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and cellulite.
This was the coolest way to cool down my body I have ever experienced!
Don’t be S.A.D. be happy!
K Spa also cares for people suffering with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)
Do you suffer from S.A.D ( often referred to as ‘Winter Depression’)? K Spa’s Sun Meadow Treatment Room mimics natural daylight which is essential to ensuring an all-over sense of well-being.
The Sun Meadow dispenses de-stressing beams of light from the ceiling, supporting mental and physical health, particularly during the winter months. It is also a great option for those suffering from eczema, psoriasis and arthritis, as it can visibly improve these conditions.
Using the latest technology in light therapy, the tranquil Sun Meadow is an idyllic space that allows the body to relax and rejuvenate away from the stresses of the outside world.
A session in the Sun Meadow is £20 for 20 minutes. Due to its low intensity, the treatment can be repeated every other day.
Awarded ‘Best Spa in London’ at the Good Spa Guide Awards 2015, K West’s holistic spa offers a range of exclusive treatments. The Wet Spa features the Snow Paradise, a twinkling Hydrotherapy pool, sanarium, sauna and an aromatic herbal steam room.
K Spa’s Wet Spa, which includes access to the Snow Paradise, can be booked at a daily rate of £50; or £65 with a spa lunch.
Crystal Clear Deluxe Facial
After 2 weeks in sunny Turkey, I thought that my skin deserved to be treated and cleaned after being exposed to loads of sunshine by the Crystal Clear Deluxe Facial.
So what can you expect? You will be treated to a Micro Dermabrasion and Mini Lift Mask. I was pleased the therapists had explained step by step what would be happening as I had never had a similar treatment done.
The Micro Dermabrasion is a controlled method of skin resurfacing by gently exfoliating the outer layer of the skin which is meant to encourage new collagen and elastine formation to visibly rejuvenate the skin.
This felt like my skin was gently vacuumed and cleaned. Then some cooling and calming Mini Lift Mask was applied. My skin felt amazing after this treatment, and I felt all refreshed.
After my facial I spent some time in the Wet Spa. I was super lucky and had about 45 minutes of all the facilities to myself before other clients arrived. My most favourite is undoubtedly the hydrotherapy pool with all the bubbling features and the Snow Paradise.
Next time I need to explore the Sun Meadow! Every year since leaving sunny Sydney I suffer with Winter Depression. Luckily we usually escape on holiday to get some winter sun, but this would be much cheaper than a holiday in Caribbean, what do you say?
