5 Ways to Make Father’s Day Special

5 Ways to Make Father’s Day Special

It’s going to be 10 years since we have started celebrating Father’s Day after the arrival of our older daughter Isabelle. We don’t celebrate this occasion in the Czech Republic, and that is a shame. We do have Mother’s Day, but no idea why dads are not being celebrated as according to me, they are equally important. What do you think?

Sleep-in

By that I mean let him have a good sleep-in. This always works in our house. I know children will be super excited about celebrating the day with their dad, but explain that having a longer sleep will make him extra happy and maybe bake a cake for him while he is still asleep?

Family time

This is undoubtedly the most important thing of all. We have had a few Father’s Days when hubby was out of the UK for work, and it was sad. As we knew in advance, we celebrated it before, so do not ignore and blame him for not being home on the actual date.

At the end of the day, I am sure if it was his choice only, he would rather be with you and the children than on a flight across the globe, in a hotel room, or entertaining a client.

Reward

Gifts are always welcome, and probably even expected. You do not need to spend a fortune. What always works in our house is personalised gifts and gifts made by the girls.

This time we were sent this lovely Dom & Geri personalised wrapping paper for which I picked a Worlds’ Exclusive News template. I found it very funny and so special, and cannot wait for daddy to see this.

I am sure he will appreciate the special things written on the wrapping paper! And we also got cards with the same image, two so each girl can draw a nice pic for daddy inside and write a few little messages too. There are many different designs, and I can tell you right now, that I would love to get one as a mum too. Would be interesting to see what my darlings would come up with!

Romance

When you become a parent, your life suddenly becomes mostly about the kids and family time. Make sure you also have some “the two of you” time, and also show your husband or partner how much he means to you except being an amazing dad to your children.

This reminds me we do need to get out more. I know some people cannot afford babysitters all the time, how about asking your mate and then return the favour another time?

Relax & Enjoy

Celebrating Father’s Day should be really all about relaxing with your loved ones and enjoying the time together. Plan everything in advance. If things don’t go according to your plan, don’t stress about it, and let it spoil the day and the special time for your dad or partner. Take a deep breath and make the most of the time you spend together.
